What is SHIFT ?

SHIFT is an immersive workshop designed to support you with tools that mitigate the negative impact of chronic stress & provide a space for deep rest.

SHIFT is 2.5 hours of exploring tools & practices for seasonal living,

followed by cosy, juicy, deep rest.

Brianna blends 7 years of experience in mental health & trauma-informed work with the tools of yoga, Traditional Chinese Medicine, somatics & sound.

Explore ancient tools, enjoy deep rest.

What to expect -

SHIFT is 2.5 hours of well-being support & cosy, juicy, deep rest.

We’ll start with an opening practice -

  • A traditional yogic Kriya practice to embody cyclical living

  • This Kriya also happens to have a long list of clinically proven benefits (Kumari & Karunaratne, 2021) including -

    • Reducing stress & anxiety

    • Improving cognition, concentration & memory

    • Improving well-being & quality of life

    • Improving sleep

    • Reducing inflammation

  • It is a very simple, active meditation practice you’ll be able to take with you beyond the workshop to mitigate some of the negative impacts of chronic stress

Then, we’ll have a short chat -

  • How seasonal living can support your well-being, reduce the build-up of chronic stress & prevent burnout

  • Tools to support you in embracing nature’s cycles whilst still keeping up with the demands of life

  • Guidance on the shift from Summer to Autumn/Winter using the wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Followed by journalling & tea -

  • Using one of my favourite tools for seasonal living: Sophia Somerville’s Magic Words Diary

  • Note - you don’t need to own this diary for the workshop. Just bring along a journal & a pen - but if you wish to pre-order & pick up at the workshop, you can do so by emailing Sophia on sophia@southernspells.com

The final 90 minutes we’ll move into deep rest -

  • Restorative pranayama

  • Autumnal Yin

  • Yoga Nidra

  • Soundbath including crystal singing bowls, percussion, gong, chimes & more

You’ll walk away with -

  • An understanding of how cyclical living can reduce chronic stress

  • Permission to shift with the seasons in a way that feels accessible, light & fun

  • Tools to support seasonal & cyclical living

  • Support to release the need to “just push through”

  • A feeling of connectedness & deep rejuvenation

I did change my life,

But perhaps not in the way you think…

When I look back on the shift between my burnt-out life & my post-burnout life, there’s one thing that stands out.

In burnout, I was always just pushing through.

Post-burnout, I give myself permission to shift with my energy levels, emotions & my menstrual cycle.

This is not just about awareness of my own clues of stress, it’s also been a matter of living a life that is much more cyclical.

Cyclical living - the antidote to “just pushing through” –

I’ve explored shifting with my menstrual cycle, the seasons, the moon.

I’ve tracked the ocean swell, winds & tides.

Over the last couple of years in recovering from burnout, I’ve become curious about how cyclical living supports mental & physical health & is a rebellious anti-dote to the capitalist agenda of always pushing through.

I’ve become interested in how yoga, Ayurveda & Traditional Chinese Medicine developed entire systems for health & wellbeing by observing the outside world & applying nature’s principles to our selves.

I’ve pocketed tools, apps & books that support a more ancient way of living and had fun with exploring these in my life in a way that doesn’t feel like just another pressure on my ever-growing to-do list.

So, I don’t work less. I don’t have less responsibility.

There is still the same pressure to keep pushing through in the outside, but this pressure touches me less because I’ve given myself permission for seasonal living.

I’ve stopped “just pushing through.”

And because of that, I’ve stayed well. I’m happier, more alive & more connected than I’ve ever been.

In SHIFT, I’ll show you how to approach life in a way that is cyclical, seasonal & connected to nature without feeling like you have to give up your work, family or responsibilities. Without you feeling like you’re “doing it wrong.”

Meet your facilitator

Hello! I’m Brianna.

I’ve been creating & running psychoeducational & therapeutic group programs for over 7 years.

One of the programs I have co-created won an award for its innovation & service to the community.

During this time, I’ve worked with people experiencing complex trauma, mental health challenges including acute psychosis, child removal, domestic violence.

I’ve also worked with young people, veterans & emergency service personnel.

I love the magic that happens in groups.

My intention with SHIFT is to offer a holistic, easeful perspective on preventing burnout & reducing the negative impacts of chronic stress.
